I sorta feel bad because I already put together my rear hub with the new gasket I made. But not really because there is an excellent “How To” on just this over here at Dean’s blog. I know I’m bad for not even taking a single picture of this process. I just had to get that fucker out of my living room. Shamefully, now that the red ciao is out of the living room, I’ve since wheeled in the Bravo and pulled the engine on it in search of a 10mm crank for red ciao. Let me know if you have one. Wordup

I just received a Simonini Calibrata exhaust pipe in the mail from treatsHQ. It’s by far the most monstrous pipe I’ve seen yet for the Vespas. It is hand made and is very hard to obtain. At least in the states. If you don’t mind waiting, I think you can order them from cycle-tech.com. This pipe won’t do for a stock setup. For it to really shine, you need a kit on your bike. I will be going over case matching and kitting as soon as I rip mine apart.
If you are looking for a pipe for a stock engine. I would recommend the Polini Country pipe. Some would say, this pipe sucks. Honestly, any cheap performance pipe will do for a stock bike. The max you will gain on a Vespa is 5mph. Which is pretty awesome. If you can’t decide on which is best, don’t get one as huge as this Simonini and you’ll be fine. The Polini is on top in this pic.
Btw, new banner on the way, thanks to heff-rock
More info about that soon.
It’s 2009 and that movie sucked. In other things, I’m going to be making some gaskets. Some people use gray gasket maker as it’s resilient to gasoline and such. I prefer to make my own gaskets the old school way, outa gasket paper. This way you don’t have to be a professional goop artist to have a good seal. Pick up a roll 1/64 gasket paper from Schucks for $3.33 (about)
I recommend a setup like this: Roll of thin gasket paper, tape, sharp razor, fine pencil, traceable gaskets.

Here we have a crank case gasket and a variated gear box gasket. I always make two at a time. Saves time on prep. If you are wondering, I reuse the tape. As I discovered as a child, electrical tape rules for this.
You should have something like this when you are done.

I don’t have time to install these into anything today. That joyous task will be saved for another episode.
I’ll be working tonight at the Crown Room, come by and say hi.
Peace yall.
I decided to make this WordPress.com blog to share pictures and tutorials regarding the many flavors of the Vespa moped. The lack of well organized information available on the web is what is driving me to do this. There were so many questions I had as a beginner, So I’ll be trying to explain things as best as I can without trying to bore some of the more advanced readers. Please feel free to shoot requests. Contact me if you know about good / cheap digital cameras, or if you know anyone who may want to donate one. Let the modifications begin.
